XZ590 'F' RAF Westland Sea King HAR.3 c/n WA856

XZ590 was one of the very last Sea Kings in RAF service and passed through Halfpenny Green on its way to retirement. Within 2 weeks of this visit RAF search and rescue with Sea Kings ceased when the remaining RAF SAR unit at Chivenor stood down. Unless there is a visit by one of the few remaining RN Sea King HC4 Commandos this was probably the last time a Sea King would be seen at Halfpenny Green.
